T. Berry Brazelton, M.D.: "When she is drowsy, but not yet asleep, place her in her crib."
Gary Ezzo, M.A.: "Feed your baby, rock him and love him, but put him down before he falls asleep."
The Sleep Lady, Kim West: "Put your baby down to sleep when he is "drowsy but awake."
Well, sorry my dear professionals of babies and sleep, I just gave in. I rocked my baby all the way to sleep. Take that! Sometimes as a mom you just need to watch that cute little baby of yours slip quietly into dream land, and today was definitely one of those days!
As I sat there feeling my son's cool breath hit my face, I started thinking about how I am scared for my children to grow up. I wish they would stay tiny so they wouldn't have to experience the heavy burdens that they will have to face in the real world. It seems like things are just getting worse! I thought to myself, "I'd deal with changing a billion awful diapers and a million night awakenings over dealing in a few short years with, bullying, peer pressure, temptations of drugs and alcohol, heartache, etc. ( I could go on and on but why make myself more worried!)
It wasn't very long after having these thoughts though that I realized that I needed to snap out of it and stop being a worry wart! I have had the amazing privilege of coming to know my Savior, Jesus Christ and I know that we all have a Heavenly Father who loves us and watches out for us. He has a plan for me, and my family and He will lead me and guide me as a mother if I put my trust in Him.
As I thought about the truths I know as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, I realized how much hope these truths bring in a dreary world and I wish with all my heart that more people knew how much happiness, peace and hope is available for each of us!
It was this long thought process I had while rocking my son that gave me the idea of starting this blog. I want others to know of the blessings of hope that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can bring and would love to hear the comments and stories of yours as well! This life can be tough, but with our belief and trust in a loving Heavenly Father we can have peace and hope!
